The Society publishes the Quarterly Journal of the International Lilac Society. The Journal provides information for the professional and amateur Lilac enthusiast; including new cultivars, research reports, disease reports, Lilac events, convention info and Society business.
The International Lilac Society was formed in 1971 to stimulate interest in the genus Syringa and to promote its use in public and private landscaping. The Society strives to unite gardeners interested in Lilacs, nursery owners and their employees growing and selling Lilacs, geneticists hybridizing Lilacs, researchers improving Lilacs, taxonomists identifying Lilacs and botanists exploring new Lilacs.
The annual convention is held during bloom time at a different garden, park or arboretum featuring a major collection of Lilacs. Also included are informative lectures, guest speakers, guided tours, Lilac auction and banquets with fellow Lilac enthusiasts.
